Greetings Friends!

This update is going to be short, but only because I hope that what we are working on now will lead to a larger update later.

Firstly, STO has launched and we are established as the Day's End Fleet. Any member of the community is welcome to join with full community member status in game and on the forum boards. We are also accepting any mature player interested in joining the fleet as a Fleet Member, there will be opportunities for those members to apply to the community at a later date.

A new structure is being implemented on the Website. This mostly lends itself to making things more organized behind the scenes, but I want to lay it out for all of you as well.

New system of ranks/permissions on the website:

Community Leader
Community Officer
Community Advisor
Community Member
Member of Atani or Member of Day's End
Alliance
Guest

Ok, the first thing I want to stress is that, if you are reading this and have been a member of the community prior to February 3rd, 2010 you have been automatically set at Community Member status, most of you had that permission set already though you didn't know it, we have just given it a name so that now we can identify it when we do website work.

Back to the breakdown though by permission:

Community Leadership- There are two now. Deek and Myself will share the rank which has really been the case since this whole group got rolling but I'm excited to finally have this as an option.

Community Officer- These are the people that you have already come to view as officers, we are going to pull them back a little more and get them working on the big picture. They will still be around and in game but I want to put them to work on some other things and make way for....

Community Advisor- Alright this one is brand new but I think you'll like it. My goal and Deek's main goal is to look after the community (all of you folks that we want to play with). We want to make sure that our focus is on the people that have built strong relationships with each other and that we continue to share in making positive memories in the future. With that in mind, it is sometimes difficult to look after the community and look after a game at the same time. Time spent creating an event is time not spent recruiting, time spent recruiting new members means an investment of time that is not being put towards current members. The Community Advisor is going to give us a chance to set a longterm chance for success. A Community Advisor will have Advisor/Officer status in game and on the forum boards they will have access to the officer boards for their game and other games so that we can coordinate and share ideas for strengthening individual kinships/fleets/guilds/tribes/etc.

New paragraph so your eyes don't bleed.

If I were going to compare what we have here with U.S. Govt. we would have Deek as our president, Finn as the Supreme Court, Community Officers would be our Senate, and our new Community Advisors would be our Governors of our States (games).

Sticking with this analogy, each of you, as members of the community are our house of representatives. This gives us a structure in place for longterm success and will allow us to better absorb future games into our community in the future. What we need now is a greater population in our states and to select a couple of Governors.

Ok no more analogy.

We need to bring more people into both our games to ensure that we have the tools to succeed in both. We can relax the recruitment standard to both games, while retaining and even improving our recruitment status in the community.

With the creation of our online gaming community we are no longer required to put membership in a kinship/fleet/guild as a instant key to the door of joining our community. I hope you all see what a fantastic step this is for us all. What has made us an amazing, great, fun group over the years has not been the kinship/fleet tag itself, but the people and the ideals we have upheld. We can protect those ideals and our community can act as a federal govt of sorts while each game is encouraged to govern itself in a manner that will lead to its success with full support from the community at large.

Ok, I broke my analogy rule and lied about the length of this guild news.

To sum it up quickly.

STO is up and running and looking good.

Lotro is about to get the microscope on it and I'm looking to put a few of its active players into a community advisor role and start setting realistic goals for its future.

STO has two Community Advisors (Kelv, Bela) and may add more depending on how we end up recruiting.

This Community is built for longterm success and after three years we know that our ideals are solid. We have met change head on and now that the dust is settling we are able to react in a non-knee jerk way. More change may be coming but for now this is where we stand. Keep checking the website and talking things out.

OH! ONE MORE THING!

Since we put up that donation box I have recieved 4 generous donations from our members. I want to tell you that we are looking at using that money to create a new website that is possibly self hosted. We are looking into putting in some really cool features that include google-earth add ons and the ability for our members to create blogs and personal home pages if they so desire. If there is something that you would like to see happen on our website or in vent please don't hesitate to put a note in the suggestion box.

Thank you again for your support of the community and if you are interested in a lotro community advisor role please drop Deek or myself a PM.

Finn

This looks like an exciting plan and the current full time active LOTRO players will be looking to see how we can not only maintain current membership but also once again grow and exceed its former glory.

Some Good Info.

So far I have had one person come to me about being a Community Advisor for Lotro, that person did nominate 2 others as well, but I need them to come forward and volunteer if its something they want to do.

Don't be humble on this one, hit me with a PM and tell me you want to do it!
